If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a business that is all about pictures must have incalculable value. If you were to ask Brett Lewis, owner of Camera Stuff, he would undoubtedly feel that way about his company. Inspired by the changes occurring in the photographic industry nearly a decade ago, Brett realised that old school definitions of professional photography were being rewritten, even as the popularity of images, driven by was increasing, driven by social media. “I combined my passion for photography, technology and the Internet with my entrepreneurial skills and created this business. Camera Stuff provides photographic accessories and studio products, aimed at everyone from intermediate to advanced SLR camera users. Most notably, I wanted to be of service to aspiring, new and intermediate professional photographers,” he says. He adds that he really enjoys helping people and feels equally fulfilled when he sees members of his staff grow. He says that his passion for cameras and photography, coupled with the company’s ability to offer good prices, a wide range, professional advice and – most importantly – its customer service, has helped it to succeed. “I remain very ambitious, however, and ideally want the business to reach a point where it Becomes the Dischem of photography. In other words, Camera Stuff will be a one-stop-shop for the serious photographer, offering a comprehensive range at reasonable prices. The goal is to successful transition from what is essentially just a large one-man business, to a multi-store, multi-channel business with a larger and more diverse team,” concludes Brett.
