David Forman always gets a giggle out of the fact that his business is all about the family jewels. His father launched Sid Forman Jewellers many years ago and he says it was always his dream to join him in the business, particularly since he – like his siblings – inherited his dad’s artistic genes, which only increased his passion for diamonds and designer jewellery. “We operate as diamond and jewellery manufacturers, specialising in engagement rings. Our company operates in the business to business (B2B) space, selling jewellery to the retail trade. We supply both diamond rings and our own branded wedding ring range. In addition, Sid Forman has its own store in Sandton city that sells direct to the consumer,” adds David. He is quick to point out that the company only has a small share of the market at present, which means its growth potential is enormous. David explains that the development of a branded B2B website that showcases all the company’s designs and models is now making it easier for clients to display and show a range to their customers. They are then able to price and order, which creates strong client loyalty. “For our next step, we want to develop strong retail partners who will stock our branded collections both locally and internationally, allowing us to sell our jewellery and diamonds, as well creating export markets for our products. Additionally, I want to develop a business to consumer (B2C) platform to complement our B2B one.”
