Antique doesn’t have to mean old. When it comes to delivering high quality, real wood furniture in the antique English and French style, nobody does it better than Millers Antiques. Some people may have an uncle in the furniture business, but for those who seek handcrafted mahogany items in the antique style, talking to Millers Antiques is the obvious option. A 90-year old family business, the company is still located at the original store in Maboneng/ Doornfontein. “We have a passion for interior design and import and curate custom finished real wood furniture ranges,” says Carmit Bamberger. “We offer a one-stop shop that provides creative and practical advice, based on lifestyle, budget and décor needs. We can also up-cycle a clients' existing furniture and integrate this with new purchases.” As the sole importers of a range of hand crafted solid mahogany classic English and French style reproduction furniture, Millers Antiques assembles the furniture at its workshop and transfers it raw to the showroom. From here, says Carmit, customers are afforded the opportunity to choose the finish according to their taste, and every order is a once-off. “South Africa is changing and there is a rapidly growing middle to high-end consumer base. We have recognised this and want to double our own customer base and also increase our product visibility online. We have plans to increase the variety of designs in our stable, while maintaining classic integrity and quality. We also want to increase stock levels and upgrade our building and showroom. If the funds were available, I would also like to open a second showroom in a different location,” she concludes.
